Southampton Dojo History

The Southampton Dojo was opened in June 1982 by Sensei Peter Moore. The Dojo's first home was at the Southampton Institute for Higher Education and later moved to the West Park Oriental Sports Club.

Unfortunately the West Park Sports Club was a popular place for break-ins by the local yobs. Some Sundays the Dojo members would arrive on a Sunday morning to find the police inspecting the damage. When the police had gone the broken glass would have to be cleared up before training could commence.

In November 1984 the Dojo was moved to it's current location at the Oaklands Centre at Lordshill.
