Sensei Russ: Bournemouth Shorinji Kempo branch masterSensei Russ began Shorinji Kempo in 1974, just 3 weeks after Sensei Toshi Yoshida opened the Bournemouth Dojo at the local YMCA. Previously Sensei Russ had trained for four years in Judo and Wado-ryu Karate.

When Sensei Toshi Yoshida returned to Japan, Sensei Russ took over the running of the club.

Sensei Russ achieved the rank of 5th Dan in 1997 together with Sensei Peter, at the world taikai in Japan.

When he is not teaching at the dojo Sensei Russ is a Bowen Therapist, running his own business from his home in Moordown, Bournemouth.
